We'll be upgrading PostgreSQL from v11 to v14 on our remaining shared servers as follows:

  • opal1, opal2, opal4: Thursday 13 June 2024 at 0200 UTC
  • opal5, opal6, opal7: Friday 14 June 2024 at 0200 UTC
  • opal8, opal10, opal11: Saturday 15 June 2024 at 0200 UTC
  • opal12, opal13, opal15: Tuesday 18 June 2024 at 0200 UTC

We expect the PostgreSQL service to be offline for approximately 1 hour during the upgrade, all other services will continue to function normally.

opal5, opal6, opal7: Friday 14 June 2024 at 0200 UTC

We have applications on Opal6 and none of them are still running.
The upgrade was supposed to run from 4 CET to 5 CET and now it is 9:20 CET.
What's going on? Are you having trouble upgrading?

Any other info welcome.

mattez The upgrade on Opal6 took longer than expected, but it's done now and PostgreSQL is back online. Apologies for the trouble!

All my data from my postgres DB in opal6 is gone after the upgrade. Tables are there, data isn't.
    Please, help.

peter it is not only problem of josearr same fo us and others. Missing data, missing databases, the mess.

mattez I just hope they can restore any backup or something. This hour waiting is being one of my worst hours ever.

Please accept our apologies for the trouble everyone! Our sysadmins are currently working to resolve these issues ASAP.

My data seems to be already back. Just waiting for confirmation.

@josearr @mattez Everything should be working fine for you again. Our sysadmins decided to revert the changes and switch back to PostgreSQL v11 on Opal6 for now.

We request that you notify us by email before your next attempt at goodness comes in the form of a PostgreSQL update.

Thanks for these upgrades! I can now move on to the latest Django.

Purely out of curiosity, why did Opalstack move to version 14 of Postgres rather than the newest, v 16? It doesn't affect me, I'm just curious engineering-wise.
