  • Pleroma application / Install Pleroma on Opalstack

Hi everyone! 👋

I was super happy to see Mastodon make its way to Opalstack. I gave it a try, it was super easy to set up. It's a heavy application though, and proves to be a bit too much for my needs (a single-user instance).

I turned to Pleroma instead, which seems like a much better option. However, the installation requirements seem to make it hard to install on my own today:

  • root access
  • ncurses

Would it be possible to get a Pleroma application set up for us, so we can use it on Opalstack?

Thank you!

Nice to see an Elixir based codebase. Easy to customize UI ?

anjanesh I wouldn't say "easy", but one can play around with the default interface, dubbed "PleromaFE". There are also other interfaces that one can use on top of Pleroma, such as Mastodon FE, which will look very familiar to Mastodon users, or Soapbox.

jeherve At this time it's not possible to run Pleroma on our platform as some of its dependencies aren't compatible with our OS.

We expect to be able to support Pleroma once we start rolling out new hardware with a newer OS in 2023.

Alright, thank you for the quick reply, as always! 🙂

jeherve I just hate it when they answer so quick .... it makes it impossible to ever look around in a rational way, there's no way to beat this kind of close support ... impossible to move to other places even if there's better pricing.
