What happened to OpalStack's Email-only solution package ?

With Google no longer supporting G-Suite's Legacy edition - https://support.google.com/a/answer/2855120 - I don't intend on paying ~$6 per month in US or $1.6 per month in India for each of the each of the custom-domain emails I have now.

Need to slowly migrate all to OpalStack.

anjanesh In the past 3 years we found that there was no interest in the email-only plans so we discontinued them.

To further expand on what Sean said. We found that we might as well include all the features of the platform and let people decide how they want to use them. So if you have a Shared plan you can use the entire space for mailboxes and email and its still a great deal, but you get DNS or a database or any other features available if you need them.

Spare a thought for anyone having a domain that goes back to the days when they handed out 100 licenses per domain. That's $600 worth of monthly "value" now going up in "smoke". Double if you have 2 domains.

More seriously, it could be worth investigating Cloudflare's email forwarding service (free within the limits of free Cloudflare accounts). Currently in beta with a wait list of about two weeks for activation. Seems to work fine, and if your eventual destination is outside Opalstack then I think the management here would prefer you to use Cloudflare rather than have Opalstack's email servers do any external forwarding.

Only thing is, you can't (afaik) send from an email address handled by Cloudflare.

ttavoy the management here doesn't mind if you use the email forwarding services that we're providing for you. 🙂

You can use Opalstack's SMTP to send mail from any of your domains that you have added at https://my.opalstack.com/domains/.

        Great, thanks, and two questions:

        1) does Opalstack implement (or plan to implement) SRS (Sender Rewrite Scheme) for forwarded email?
        2) same question for ARC (Authenticated Received Chain)

By the way, regarding my comment earlier in this thread that Cloudflare email forwarding "seems to work fine", I now have some questions about it ... I have seen a (not authoritative) suggestion that Cloudflare implements SRS but not ARC

(To my limited understanding, SRS sounds like a really bad idea, whereas ARC sounds like it could be OK)

Finally, a typo in the Opalstack docs -
https://docs.opalstack.com/user-guide/email/#adding-email-addresses point 8, "If you want the new address to deliver to a mailbox" should say "If you want the new address to auto-forward"

No, but we're looking into the possibility implementing one or both of these.

          Thanks, fixed! 🙂
