PHP +Apache with TYPO3 CMS apps can not run

Hello,

We have a PHP app with TYPO3 CMS from webfaction (PHP version = 7.0).
We have changed the configuration (Databases, routes, etc) from webfaction to Opalstack (We set PHP version 7.3).
When we put the URL on the browser the page throw an error 500 like: "Oops, an error occurred!"

We tried to install composer dependances from composer.json using "composer update" and get:

Problem 1
- typo3/class-alias-loader is locked to version 1.0.0 and an update of this package was not requested.
- typo3/class-alias-loader 1.0.0 requires composer-plugin-api ¹.0 -> found composer-plugin-api[2.0.0] but it does not match the constraint.
Problem 2
- typo3/cms-composer-installers is locked to version 1.3.1 and an update of this package was not requested.
- typo3/cms-composer-installers 1.3.1 requires composer-plugin-api ¹.0.0 -> found composer-plugin-api[2.0.0] but it does not match the constraint.
Problem 3
- typo3/testing-framework is locked to version 1.0.1 and an update of this package was not requested.
- typo3/testing-framework 1.0.1 requires typo3/cms-backend ⁸.5 -> found typo3/cms-backend[v8.7.7, ..., v8.7.32] but these were not loaded, likely because it conflicts with another require.
Problem 4
- friendsofphp/php-cs-fixer is locked to version v2.0.0 and an update of this package was not requested.
- friendsofphp/php-cs-fixer v2.0.0 requires php ⁵.3.6 || >=7.0 <7.2 -> your php version (7.3.25) does not satisfy that requirement.

You are using Composer 2, which some of your plugins seem to be incompatible with. Make sure you update your plugins or report a plugin-issue to ask them to support Composer 2.

joshuccr it looks like your app isn't compatible with composer v2, so try installing composer v1 instead:

mkdir -p ~/bin
wget -O composer-setup.php https://getcomposer.org/installer
php composer-setup.php --1 --install-dir=$HOME/bin --filename=composer
rm composer-setup.php

It also looks like your app isn't compatible with PHP 7.3. 7.3 is the lowest 7x version that we provide, so if you need a lower version you'll need to use PHP 5.6.

Hello Sean, thank you very much.

I executed these instructions and I change PHP version (now is 5.6) but we got that errors:

At the browser: "This version of TYPO3 CMS requires PHP 7.0 or above".

When run this command, inside our php app, where we have our composer.json ~/apps/myapp/myapp/*

"composer install composer.json"

joshuccr If your app won't run on PHP 5.6 or PHP >=7.3 then we don't have a PHP option that you can use at this time.

What version of Typo3 are you trying to use?

joshuccr I've checked your app on the server and it looks like it is version 8.7. I'm attempting an install of my own and will let you know how it goes.

Ok, I was able to get Typo3 v 8.7 going on PHP 7.3 with no problem.

First I installed composer v1 as above:

mkdir -p ~/bin
wget -O composer-setup.php https://getcomposer.org/installer
php composer-setup.php --1 --install-dir=$HOME/bin --filename=composer
rm composer-setup.php

Then I went into my Typo source directory and ran composer like this:

php ~/bin/composer install --no-dev

Note that I invoked composer through the PHP interpreter instead of running it directly.

So, try this:

Switch your app back to PHP 7.3.
Run your composer command through the PHP interpreter like: php ~/bin/composer install composer.json

joshuccr hmm, ok it looks like this is a known bug in Typo3 v8: Declaration T3xDownloader::download not compatible (Composer 1.5.1/1.5.2)

If I'm reading that correctly, the fix is to update to a newer version of typo3/cms-composer-installers like:

php ~/bin/composer require typo3/cms-composer-installers:^1.4 --no-plugins --update-no-dev
php ~/bin/composer install --no-dev

Please back up your app before you do any of that. Hope this helps 🤞

Running update with --no-dev does not mean require-dev is ignored, it just means the packages will not be installed. If dev requirements are blocking the update you have to resolve those problems.

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content.
