mails are refused - "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" - black listed!

Hi,

I have the problem that mails from opalstack servers are refused from a big german mail provider. See below:

Following the given link, it tells me the reason "5xy IP address is black listed"

Any ideas or solutions?

I opened a ticket about 18 hours before. Surprised that this is still not solved. Usually they react faster :-)

We've already initiated the delisting process. All we can do now is wait for the blacklist operators to follow through.

As a side note, there is something oddly slow going on here. This evening (European time) I am starting to receive the first few "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" notifications from MAILER-DAEMON@de.opalstack.com, relating to messages which failed to be delivered on 30th December.

No, when a message is rejected due to blacklisting it is usually bounced back to the sender as a permanent failure.

This problem seems to be not yet fixed.

My mailbox at gmx.com (which stopped receiving emails forwarded from Opalstack on 29th December) still has not resumed receiving them.

Please note that gmx.com and gmx.net are distinct entities (the former internationally oriented and the latter more Germanocentric) with different account holders and slightly different services.

Could it be that only gmx.net has unblocked Opalstack while gmx.com is still blocking it?

As a sanity-check I have (ten minutes ago) added a mailbox at gandi.net as an extra new forwarding address for my Opalstack emails, and this has started receiving forwarded emails immediately.

At this time our German SMTP is successfully delivering mail to gmx.com, gmx.net, and gmx.de.

You mentioned forwarding, so I checked our MX and I see no forwarding problems there.

If you'd like us to investigate the notifications you're receiving now then please email the details to support @ opalstack.com and we'll look into it. We'll need to know your forwarding address and the address to which it forwards.

Following up on @ttavoy inquiry for anyone else who might be affected: our German MX are currently blacklisted by GMX. We've requested delisting and expect to have this resolved within 24 hours.

Was this issue successfully resolved?

I found out in mid Janueary that my colleagues had emails go missing in early January. (Silent failure. No bounceback.) At the time, I just looked at the Opalstack status updates and saw no notifications there. My colleagues switched to using smtp servers from other providers. It only occurred to me today to search the community forum.

I'm nervous about green-lighting my colleagues switching back to Opalstack smtp because the failures were silent. (We experienced occasional blacklisting problems on Webfaction too. I choose our hosting services so I feel like I have limited reputation on this issue.)
