Delete Any Apps at Once

We should be able to delete any apps in Opalstack at once. I can't count how many times I have tried to delete an app after typed "I confirm" then press a delete button. Even I have clicked many times a trash icon. Afterwhile, it does delete apps.

Afterwhile, a Symbolic app was deleted in Opalstack and after I login SFTP, a Symbolic folder is still there and I tried to delete but it said "Permission Denied." Why? Delete should be as simple as delete anywhere.

mikey3d Deleting an app or anything else that involves deleting data from the server is never instantaneous. it works like this:

You delete the item in the dashboard.
The item is queued to be deleted in 24 hours (this is a safety net in case you delete something by mistake).
If you want to delete an individual item immediately then you click the trash can for that item.

Which part of this do you find to be troublesome?

Regarding the symlink you mentioned, if that is still not deleted from the server then please email support with the details and we'll take care of it as soon as possible.

sean You have “I confirm” then hit the delete button. That means to delete quickly right away. Webfaction doesn't have that and it deletes immediately.

It doesn’t delete an individual item immediately, I confirm, delete > nothing > Click trash can > nothing > I confirm, delete > nothing > I confirm, delete > nothing > Click trash can > nothing > Click trash can > nothing > I confirm, delete > nothing > I confirm, delete > It stall > Refresh browser > It works, it deleted.

It’s a waste of time not knowing when it will delete an app.

mikey3d you only have to click the trash can once and then wait a minute or two for it to happen. Clicking it over and over won't make it go any faster.

sean I used stopwatch after I clicked trash can. It's about a minute to delete after refreshing the browser every 10 seconds.

The reason it works slowly this way is because we're operating the service on a loosely coupled control loop, eg:

You make a change in the dashboard.
Those changes get pushed to a queue.
The web server pulls the changes from the queue.
The web server deploys whatever changes.
The web server reports back to the dashboard that it's done.

The advantage of this type of system is that if the dashboard goes down for some reason, the web servers can keep operating with their latest config.
