(1/33) the password proctections which worked for our website at webfaction.com did NOT work at opalstack.com !
(2/33) we got info from WebFaction
(a) static php sites at WebFaction are compatible with those of Opalstack
(b) corresponding control setting files such as .htaccess, *.ini etc will work as before
(3/33) we got info from Opalstack that security
such as password will work in the same way at opalstack server as at webfaction server with any static php site
(4/33) based on info (2/33) and (3/33) we
(a) deleted app, website, domain, LE certif
at webfaction.com set for our site having ftp
downloaded it to Linux Ubuntu laptop before
doing that
(b) configured app, domain, site route at opalstack.com for this site at opalstack.com and also set nameservers at godaddy.com
(c) ftp uploaded the content from Linux Ubuntu laptop to opalstack.com vps host
(d) started testing password protections
(e) discovered that they do NOT work !
(5/33) how to proceed and how to solve this ?
(a) is there need for cgi programs ?
(b) file compability should not be problem ?
i.e we ftp uploaded from Linux Ubuntu all that content with .htaccess .ini etc
(c) is the php we selected for Site Route compatible with that of webfaction ?
i.e it should be faster than std apache php but is the price to be paid that it is incompatible ?
