I added an email address and forward to my Gmail in Opalstack.

In Gmail, go to settIngs > Account and Import > Send mail as > Add another email address > Name: Michael > Email address: opalstack@mydomain.com > Clicked (Next Step) > SMTP server: smtp.us.opalstack.com > Port: 587 > Username: NAME > Password: ******* > Add Account > I get an error:

Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
Server returned error: "535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure , code: 535"

i get the same error when adding "Send mail as" i have the mailbox added and in the Username i am adding the mailbox username and mailbox password. still not working. tried TLS and SSL both.

    3 months later

I was getting the same 535 error using the appropriate mail user and password (TLS and SSL) and changed the mail user password a couple of times to verify. That password worked perfectly with a desktop mail client.

What worked for me was deleting the "Send As" address on GMail and recreating it with the Opalstack SMTP settings. Go figure. I think it's because GMail now sends out confirmation emails for "Send As" addresses.

Is there any update to this issue? I can't get my Opalstack email address to work with Gmail.

    Here are my details:

    1. Selected Gmail's "treat as an alias" option
    2. Using the US smtp server address: smtp.us.opalstack.com
    3. Using TLS, port 587
    4. Using my Opalstack mailbox name as my mail user name
    5. Using the auto-generated Opalstack mailbox password

Then after Gmail send the verification email, I never receive it.

If I use Webmail to log into the Opalstack mailbox, the Gmail verification email is in there, and I can get the code and verify the address in Gmail. But once I do that, if I try to send an email, Gmail won't let me send from the newly added address. (The "Send" button just doesn't even do anything.)

I'm using Brave as my browser.

    Any help is appreciated!

john-asl correct, the setup process is identical here, with the exception of the server name and mailbox name (if yours is different here at Opalstack).

Your issue sounds more like a browser problem to me. Have you tried in a different browser?

sean Turns out it was some kind of weird javascript error in Gmail, and reloading the Gmail page fixed it!

Thanks. The one time you don't think to try a really simple fix is the one time it's the culprit...
