Putty/SSH Connection timeout on initial connect

This was working normally earlier, but now I'm unable to SSH in - Putty just has a blank terminal for _10s then says Connection Timed Out. Doesn't even get to the username query.

This also happened on monday but seemed to resolve itself later - any idea what might be causing this?

OrangyTang If your login fails a few times our firewall will ban your IP for an hour. If it's been more than an hour then please contact support to let us know your local IP address and we'll look into it.

I've seen this too. It usually follows an accidental bad password/key or two in a script. I think it might be some sort of DoS protection kicking in.

I've been migrating a lot of stuff so there's definitely been a few bad password entries recently. If it is DoS protection it feels a bit twitchy. Seems to be working now but was definitely blocked for more than an hour - does a login attempt while blocked reset the timer?
