HOWTO migrate stuff automatically from WebFaction!

I did the migration script yesterday for wordpress, telling it import into a mariadb that was already created here on opalstack.

The wp-config.php file had an error where the line define('DB_PASSWORD', '"passwword"'); had both single and double quotes around the password.

I'm guessing this is a rare use case, but FYI

Hello dear Opalstack customers and support,

I have been postponing this Task for quite sometime, with the hope that something would come up, that would change the situation for the migration from WF to GoDaddy. But now i m running out of options since i have never handled migrations.
I have an account on WF where i have over 10 domains (Subdomains as well) where different redirections stand and multiple application are used like: WordPress 3.8.1, Static/CGI/PHP-7.0 and webalizer.
The reason why GoDaddy wouldn't work for me any more is due to the fact, that for an ongoing Project, Nodejs is quite necessary.
I m having doubts on how to begin, how to save at least the settings as they are and maybe try to migrate just piece by piece with the fear of disturbing something.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to handle it ?

⚠️ When you migrate a MySQL db from WebFaction, the password for the MariaDB user created on our end will not be the same. You'll need to either change the DB password to match your old one from WF, or update your application settings to use the new DB password. You can find the new DB password in your Opalstack account notifications.

Am I not checking in the right place? The migration script (which is amazing by the way!) seems to already have updated my Wordpress application to use the correct credentials. When I check my wp-config.php file in Opalstack it shows the correct username and password for the MariaDB that was created.

michael it's been a while so it's possible that info might be outdated. I'll review the procedure and will update it if necessary.

It used to work a few hours ago.

Because we have a schedule to migrate 2 client's websites from Webfaction at exactly 0700 UTC, it's quite troublesome since the client is scheduled to be on standby for updating their DNS once we have finished the migration. 😅

minh We have restored v0 of the API which the script relies on. It should be back. There may be bugs, if you run into any please send us a support ticket and we will work with you to bring your data over.

allrite I was in the same situation, had been pulling my hair for over an hour, your suggestion to leave out the 'webfaction.com' part in the [webfaction]server parameter did it for me! Thanks very much.

psykhe This is why the example in the template shows only the short server name for your WebFaction server. We did it that way because WF's API requires it.

sean Create an entry in your local system's hosts file to point your domain/subdomain at your Opalstack server IP, or add your free opalstacked.com subdomain to the site after the migration is complete.

I have done this, but my free opalstacked.com subdomain does a 301 redirect to the old domain. I must overlook something but I'm totally lost as to what for the moment.

This was where WordPress was redirecting you via the site URL set in it's database.

I was able to correct that for you so it should be working sans-redirect now.

nick Thank you very much. I have scratched everything (domains, sites, databases, users) and started with a clean slate and fresh migrations. Could you tell me how you were able to solve this, as I have a number of small wordpress installs that I need to migrate and I don't want to bother you each time. Btw, my new migrations act the same way as before when I use the <account>.opalstacked.com subdomain: it's a 301 redirect.
