Anyone interested in Docker should ask to be migrated to one of our new EL9 servers, they are available as VPS in beta testing. We have podman on them, and they can run anything in user-space. We still won't be providing root access, this will mean some docker images just wont work, they expect root. Podman is more user-spaced, and a good majority of containers do 'just work' with a focus of our team being to add these to the list of our installers. The core take away is 'docker' is a kind of technology which carries with it some assumptions that breaks what our core offer is, managed hosting. And user-spaced containers. No systemd access, we do that for you. Podman does consider this, and tries to bring docker into user space. It depends on the images, which are like any package somewhat up to the maintainer how they work and what functions they provide. With the direction of MCP and vibe deploy I predict some of this may change, or be altered when the LLMs are writing and deploying a majority of the code. Our infrastructure, with MCP+EL9 and podman can support just about anything. If you request a given app, we can vibe code the installer at a pace never seen before. We are keeping a close eye on these developments. For the time please send us a support ticket if you are interested in trying out EL9 servers and podman on those servers. Please check out or MCP vibe deploy blog posts and social media posts and keep an eye on those developments as well. As for git, we have gitea which is a full github rival, and it supports hooks. Another core feature is we support open source projects, and try to not do some of the last mile stuff so that you the developer can participate in that, to understand why your making your ssh keys, or why you are setting up a hook, all of this is for your benefit, it leans into privacy tech and an understanding of the fundamentals. Thank you everyone for all the support.
