(1) how did the opalstack server update the card info ?

(2) why was the update automatic ?

(3) why did the server not keep the previous
card which was valid in July and
even after the billing date
i.e opalstack would have got the monthly payment ?

(4) why is there only update function for cards ?
i.e. why not add ?

why not possibility to have back up card ?

we did update also manually the same new info,
was it unnecessary ?

How was the opalstack server capable
to get the new payment card information
before we got the new card ?

From which.company did opalstack server
get permission
to update this new payment card to its
database - as far as we know we have
not given that permission and neither
has the credit card company ?

dragonxi we do not update cards automatically on our end, but our billing processor (Stripe) has arrangements with several card providers which allows them to update expired cards automatically.

The reason that there is no "add" function is that there is only one card assigned to your billing account for automatic payments. Adding two cards would serve no purpose.

Could you update the opalstack server
software to check whether the credit
card has been automatically updated
before it sends email notifications
to manually update the card ?

You can listen for Stripe webhooks
to learn of card update activity:

The payment_method.updated event
notifies you of updates to a card through an API call

The payment_method.automatically_updated event
notifies you of automatic card updates from the network

dragonxi Apologies but at this time the card expiry notifications are managed by Stripe. All we can do is turn them on or leave them off. The setting is global for the entire company, so we're leaving it on so that customers will receive those notifications.
