How to manage email elsewhere for a domain hosted on Opalstack?

I'm not sure what terms to search for. I hope that if I explain what I want that someone can point me at the right help page.

I love my Opalstack hosting, as I loved my Webfaction hosting, but on both platforms I have had email niggles: Servers being grey-listed and now the fubar on the DE server.

I would like all the mail for one of my domains to be handled by a third party. I don't want mail to be forwarded from Opalstack servers to a third party service. I don't want a third party service to send mail through Opalstack. I want a third party service to handle all aspects of sending and receiving email for that domain while my web app is hosted on Opalstack.

1) Is there a guide on how to do this?

2) Does anyone have a recommendation about which third party services to use this way?

crantok if you want to host email elsewhere while using Opalstack NS then you'll need to follow our instructions to create manual DNS records to set up the DNS records that your mail provider requires.

I've been using Postmark for a year now for one of my domains hosted on OS where email is absolutely critical.

I'm only using them for sending but they have comprehensive docs on how to setup for receiving as well. Plus, like OS, their support people have also been top notch whenever I've dealt with them.

Outbound is just setting different SMTP servers. For inbound it involves setting up an MX record. See docs on setting inbound email: [https://postmarkapp.com/developer/user-guide/inbound/inbound-domain-forwarding]
