2FA Backup Code?

Hi,

I just enabled 2FA using Google Authenticator

But I don't see it gives any backup code like most other websites do?

What happen if I lost my phone?

pixelstudio One solution would be to use 1Password which allows you to set up 2FA for a website. I just set it up to log into my.opalstack.com account and it works fine - https://support.1password.com/one-time-passwords/ It even puts in the 2FA code automatically when logging in.

We've got backup codes on the roadmap but for now if you lose your device we can help you get back in to your account.

Mike what the OP was requesting was backup codes which you can use if you lose access to your 2FA application, ie codes that you keep on paper or in an offline file so that you can use them for emergency access.

Having a set of emergency backup codes for each MFA site that one visits is an idea that does not scale gracefully. The way things are going, with more and more sites offering or even demanding MFA, the shoebox in the attic will soon start overflowing.

I suggest that primary insurance against loss or damage to smartphone should be to have the authenticator app running on three separate mobile devices, with each instance syncing automatically with the other two whenever a change is made.

Is this achievable with currently available tools?
