Automatic backups to Dropbox / cloud storage

another question.
does running rclone overwrite existing files on the remote dropbox directory or add changed files?
In the case where I backup the apps directories I would hope the files on dropbox are overwritten with the new files.

bici Basically, yes, rclone will make sure the source files if newer than what is in the target directory are overwritten.

me again! So while using Dropbox works for backing up Mysql DB files, Dropbox chokes badly in trying to rclone my apps directories. All kinds of write-errors and time outs. anyone know a solution to this?

I was trying to set up rclone to use my free onedrive but I get a complaint of:

bici That response means the port is already in use on the server. But I can't see that at this time. I would try again, and if issues persist you can open a ticket with us with more details about the write errors and time outs for more assistance.

would this bind error possibly be due to the fact that I have setup a dropbox connection using the same command?

Just tried again and received same bind message 🇦

bici Sorry, what I meant earlier is the bind message may be related to the port in use locally at your end. So yes, if you have an existing local connection on port 53682 you would need to specify a new local port for another connection. eg. if you are using 53682:127.0.0.1:53682 in one existing connection, then you could use something like 53683:127.0.0.1:53682 for another.
