SPF and DMARC settings

I missed this part:

Automating SPF and DMARC would require us to make assumptions about how you might want to implement those (ie the servers that you want to send mail from and the manner in which you want DMARC reports handled), but we have no way to know if those assumptions would be correct.

An inaccurate SPF or DMARC record can do more harm than good so at this time we don't have a plan to automatically generate those records.

I appreciate what you're saying about wrong records being worse than no records but I had wrong records precisely because I had to try and do it myself, and it was wrong for 6 months without me being warned about it. If there was a one-click option to add an entry for a domain with valid syntax, which we could override later, I think that would be of use.

kylotan ah I see what you're getting at.

When I read "automating" in your question, my brain went to "on by default" which I think would be a bad move (which was the conclusion we reached after looking into that).

We can definitely look into making these into 1-click settings.
