Creating subdomains

I guess i dont really understand subdomains. I thought i could create a subdomain: NEW.MYSITE.COM that i could use to create a new version of my website. Obviously it should have it's own file space separate from what is served via MYSITE.COM or WWW.MYSITE.COM ... right now by going to the URL NEW.etc it renders my present site.

Perhaps a subdomain is not the correct option?

If you create a new subdomain and then assign it to a new site with a different application then it should not render your present site.

If you've done that and you're still seeing your old site on the new domain then please contact our support team via email so that we may take a closer look.

duh! yes that makes sense. so its like a new site/site route. letsencrypt etc etc
