I noticed some connection refused entries in my error logs so I assume you added some kind of firewall in the mix.
2021/05/03 23:52:03 [error] 3624#3624: *23796480 connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: 141.101.104.203, server: ***, request: "POST /wp-comments-post.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://[::1]:81/wp-comments-post.php", host: "***", referrer: "***"
My concern is that firewall is not aware that I am using CloudFlare and client IP is actually CloudFlare IP.
How long does it block the client IP from accessing the website? Can you make it use the actual client IP (X-Forwarded-For header) when website is using CloudFlare?
