I am collaborating with someone on a political campaign. They built everything in Joomla and want me to use a different hosting service. It would just be for the one project. I really don't want to have to deal with HostGator, thank you very much. Is Joomla supported by Opalstack? I'm not familiar with it. From the docs I've read it appears to use MySQL on the back end. Will it work with Maria DB. I saw there was a post back in October about creating an installer for it, so I figure it should be doable right? But I didn't find anymore references to it when searching the forums/threads/support documentation.

saebel you can run Joomla sites on Opalstack, it will work with our MariaDB setup.

The Joomla installer is still on the roadmap, but for now you can install it manually with the following steps:

Create a MariaDB: https://help.opalstack.com/article/51/managing-databases
Create a PHP app: https://help.opalstack.com/article/47/managing-applications
Attach the app to a site: https://help.opalstack.com/article/52/managing-sites
SSH to your server as the app's shell user: https://help.opalstack.com/article/14/ssh-access

Run the following commands to download and install Joomla:

cd ~/apps/name_of_app
wget https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3/3-9-26/Joomla_3-9-26-Stable-Full_Package.zip
unzip Joomla_3-9-26-Stable-Full_Package.zip

Go to the URL of the site you created in step 3. The Joomla installation wizard will guide you from there.
