Howdy,
MCP servers are typical JSON-RPC servers and do not require a GPU. The LLM which accesses the MCP server will require a GPU or APU or some other advanced processor, but since MCP is a web service our servers and services will host them fantastically.
MCP is framework which requires a few components. The LLM to do the tool work, the MCP Server to provide the tools, and the MCP Client to connect to the LLM and the various MCP servers. So each component has its purpose and requirements. Only the LLM requires GPUs, and to be honest most of the companies who hold this technology are monopolies, the open source landscape hasn't developed to a point where a company like ours could offer the LLM, although we are interested in it. So we provide tooling, and focus on the MCP server component of this ecosystem. If you have any more questions about MCP please send me a ticket at sales@opalstack.com and I would love to discuss them with you (My inbox is sales and I am the resident MCP/LLM expert)
