Is it possible to somehow rename a MariaDB instance?

One possible solution I see is to manually create a new database and then "copy" the original database over. Not sure exactly how I would do that, but I could probably figure it out. Would be much easier (IMO) if I could just rename the DB somehow.

I presume if it is possible, I would also need to manually change the name of used DB in the Wordpress config?

Hodson it's not possible to rename a database in our system. The solution is to copy the database to a new database as you suggested.

The steps are:

Create the new database.
Export the existing database.
Import the exported data into the new database.

You will indeed need to update your WordPress config to use the new database name.
