Since many folks were using Webfaction for hosting their Mailman 2 lists, we wanted to let folks know about Harmony Lists located at https://mailmanhost.com. They offer both Mailman 2 AND Mailman 3. Their Mailman 3 hosting service includes two modern user interfaces: Affinity (admin) and Empathy (forum/archiver). You can send an email to sales@mailmanhost.com with any questions.

    I recently learned about Groups.io.

    https://groups.io/static/features
    https://groups.io/static/compare
    https://groups.io/static/pricing

    From their site:

Upgrade From Mailman or Lyris Powerful Features, Better Security

Hosting your groups using Mailman or Lyris? We make it easy for you to move your group to Groups.io. Take advantage of our advanced features. Don't be stuck in the past.

Groups.io replaces a bunch of apps, including:

Mailman / Discourse / Aurea (previously Lyris)
    Slack
    Dropbox for teams
    G Suite: Docs, Calendar
    Doodle
    SignUpGenius
SurveyMonkey / Typeform / Google Forms

    • Free: 1gb of storage (basic features)
    • Premium: $20/mo, 20gb of storage (many more features)
    • Enterprise: $200/mo 1tb of storage (even more features)

(I have no experience with it, but it looks like a nice evolution from mailman. Although mailman is cool.)

aa11 If you're comparing Groups.io with Mailman 2, then perhaps but Groups.io doesn't really compete with our Mailman 3 service. We include 2 custom apps: Affinity and Empathy that are modern and very user-friendly. I tested Groups.io. Their interface is outdated and bloated. The only reason to choose Groups.io over Mailman 2 is if you wanted a forum for your primary means of interacting with others. Otherwise, Mailman 2 is better as a list serv and definitely more affordable.

Definitely not recommending, since I haven't used it :-) I only mentioned it because I didn't see it listed here and it looked ok from what I read on their site and some reviews. I quoted what I did just as quick reference for the readers here.

Thanks so much for your review! Very helpful information.

brianemwd I registered and paid for a Mailman 3 service at https://mailmanhost.com But 2 weeks has passed, my service is still "pending", and I've received no communications from your team. Please advise - I don't want to assume my $$ got scooped, but starting to feel that way. I just need to know what's going on. thanks.

dcd something tragic happened to brianemwd over at mailmanhost.com - they issued a refund and and apology. So sorry.
If you are here looking for a Mailman host, I can highly recommend https://www.mailman3.com/ - super support, reasonable pricing. They got my 9 lists migrated and up and running without a hitch.

dcd Not sure I'd echo your recommendation.

Mailmanhost.com (for mailman2) stopped working without any message to me, my support tickets get confirmed as opened but no response follows, and to open that ticket you need to go to a URL (manage.harmonylists.io) with an SSL certificate that expired in June.

So, I'm looking at another forced migration within the same calendar year, again losing my archive, for a low-volume mailing list.

I had to reply to this, not because I have my own mailing lists, but because I am aware of the Mailman hosting page on the Mailman wiki. I see that at least one of the recommended providers mentioned here is featured on that page.

Personally, I am happy with mailing lists. There has been a tendency in recent years for people to promote the latest wizardry, and I will say that this forum - for instance - is quite nice for what it is, but many of the gadgets sold as replacements to plain old mailing lists have been disappointing, haven't really offered a better medium for discussion, and some of the providers of these gadgets have a habit of disappearing and taking people's data with them.

(I'm a bit surprised that Opalstack doesn't support Mailman given the Webfaction heritage, but perhaps there just isn't the demand, and mail-related stuff can admittedly be a bit of a hassle, too.)

Can you confirm that MailMan3.com still has your lists working?

Because MailManHost.com, MailMan3.com, and HarmonyLists.io are all the same company (look at their layout!). So if Mailmanhost.com refunds your mailman2 but successfully sets you up with mailman3, are they still working?
