Unable to connect to server via SFTP

I am trying to use Filezilla to connect to the server that hosts my websites etc. I can successfully log on to opal8.opalstack.com using SSH but trying to use the same shell user/password to connect to SFTP via Filezilla does not work - it just times out when trying to connect. Am I missing something?

lewiscolony from your description it seems that you might have something in your bashrc or bash_profile scripts which is breaking SFTP login.
