Setting up Memcache

Hello,

I want to ask if Memcache is installed server-wide on OpalS, and how can I use Memcache for my Django app in either case?

oceanlove Memcached is installed server-side.

To use it, first spin up memcached in a SSH session like:

memcached -d -s $HOME/apps/appname/memcached.sock -P $HOME/apps/appname/memcached.pid -m 100

(The -M 100 parameter is the size of the cache in MB, adjust as needed).

Once that's done, configure your Django settings to connect to memcached on its socket, eg:

CACHES = {
    'default': {
        'BACKEND': 'django.core.cache.backends.memcached.MemcachedCache',
        'LOCATION': 'unix:/home/user/apps/appname/memcached.sock',
    }
}

Did you mean -m 100? According to memcached -h,

-m <num> max memory to use for items in megabytes (default: 64 MB)
-M return error on memory exhausted (rather than removing items)

Or will -M 100 act like -m 100 but return an error on memory exhaustion? The memached documentation on GitHub and man memcached don't suggest that it does.
