The server is back online (has been for a bit) and from what I figured out from logs and metrics there was an enormous spike in RAM usage that our process monitoring handled. Then around 10-15 minutes later there was another enormous RAM spike that increased so quickly that our internal tooling couldn't handle it which caused the server to freeze up.
