subdomain as url for website

Hi, I have a domain: ato.com along with subdomain tom.ato.com at registrar. I want users to point their browsers to http://tom.ato.com to be served my website. I added opalstack name servers there and opalstack ip address but when pointing browser to https:// tom.ato.com the window redirects to ato.com. I must've done something wrong in the cpanel at the registrar, or in config on opal site. domains above are examples, not actual.

What's the best way to do this? I seem to remember this was not a big deacon web faction but maybe my memory is playing tricks.

Hello there,

It looks like the DNS is not yet configured for the domain tom.ato.com to point to any server yet. So what you want to do is create the tom.ato.com subdomain with your current DNS provider, then assign it a DNS A record that points to the IP address of the server you have with us at Opalstack. You can retrieve that IP on the main page after you login to our dashboard here: https://my.opalstack.com/

After that, all requests for tom.ato.com should technically be going to our server. You can then assign it to any existing website, or create a new one from the dashboard.
